Kampala: City Guided Walking Tour with Kabaka`s Palace
Kampala rewards curious walkers. This four-hour tour links markets, monuments, transport hubs, and Buganda’s royal past in one lively route. I especially like the small groups of up to six and the chance to see ordinary city life rather than only polished sightseeing spots. The main drawback is simple: Kampala is hot, crowded, and demanding on foot, and some stretches are not easy on the eyes or the feet.
I also like the guides’ personal approach. Pius, Sharif, Tajirl, and other guides have been praised for explaining Uganda’s past and present in clear, friendly terms. One especially memorable option mentioned by a participant was a boda boda ride, though you should confirm whether that is available and included for your departure.
This is not a gentle stroll through quiet streets. Expect traffic, market noise, uneven walking, and crowded public spaces. The palace visit gives the tour a strong historical finish, but some people may find the building less impressive than expected. The palace guide, however, adds useful context, particularly at the former torture chambers.
